Importance of Diwali Festival
Diwali is the festival of lights and it is celebrated everywhere by lightening lamps. People celebrate Diwali festival because Lord Rams have returned to Ajodhya after fourteen years of exile. Lord Rama defeated the Ravana so in commemorate of Lord Rama people started to celebrate this festival with full enthusiasm and fervor.
Diwali festival is the symbol of victory over evil practices. People gave accord welcome to Lord Rama when he returned back to Ajodhya after fourteen years of exile and lighted lamps in his welcome and illuminated candles along the pathways and homes. Diwali festival is the symbol of the triumph of goodness over badness and the importance of Diwali festival cannot be neglected at any cost.
Apart from this, Sri Hargobind Singh sixth gurus of Sikhs released from the Gwalior jail by the Mughal Emperor Jahangir. So Sikhs celebrated this festival in commemorating of Guru Har Gobind Singh Ji.
People start preparation for Diwali festival many days before. Some people whitewash their house, while others remove cobwebs from their homes. People exchange gifts with each other. Children and youth wear new clothes on this auspicious day. People decorate their homes with hanging walls. There are lots of rush of people in various places, especially in sweet shops.
In the evening people worship God and Goddess Laxmi and Lord Ganesha and offer sweets to them and do altar in their homes and pay obeisance and pray to God. Diwali festival brings a lot of prosperity and success in their life. After that people light candles’ in their home. In the night people firecrackers and enjoyed a lot. Some people do gambling on this day that is not good for the welfare of society. And we should also firecrackers in a limited way because the excess of everything is bad, firing of more crackers means we are polluting our environment.
Celebrations festivals play an important role in human life. So children must know the importance of Diwali festival. Nowadays in some countries, various types of convention festivals and celebration are disappearing. So, it has the bad impact on the society.
Nowadays due to the advancement of technology, people spend more time on electronic gadgets and living in a bubble world. Moreover, due to hectic lifestyle people are running a rat race for a smooth functioning of their life. And due to this, they think a celebration of traditional festivals is only wastage of time.
So parents must give knowledge to their children about the history of festivals. Not only this, school authorities must organize various programmers in school on the days of the traditional festival like Diwali and teach the importance of Diwali festival to the students. Apart from this, the government also organize the campus in rural as well as urban areas to aware all the individuals about their festivals.
To cap it all, these days people are so busy in their life for earning and more money but traditional festivals are also equally important so parents must share the importance and history of festivals with their children.
