Amount of sports shown on television every week has increased significantly and this is having an impact on live sports events. Do you think benefits of having more televised sports are greater than disadvantages?
It is now easy and convenient to watch live sports and games on television at any time or any day of the week, and the current amount of viewers has already increased in few years. This is definitely having an impact on the live sports events themselves, and there are both benefits and drawbacks to this. I am going to discuss such growth in television sports in my upcoming paragraph. In my opinion, with the digital broadcasting, there are now more TV Channels than there were even
Ten years ago. Moreover, sports and games have become an important form of entertainment appealing to both Men and women. Furthermore, one important advantage of the profession is the good amount of money provided by television companies. BCCI sponsored Indian Premier IPL benefits financially from TV revenue and the players can command very large salaries. In addition, there is a health benefit to some of the population, because, through televised sports, more people have become interested in actually playing sports.
However, there are certain disadvantages to having so many sports and games on television. Many smaller regional cricket teams suffered financial losses as they cannot compete with the larger ones. There has been a general decline in ticket sales, especially among smaller clubs. Today, people like to watch live matches from the comfort of their living room. So the ticket prices have fallen dramatically.
To sum up, while television sports has created many opportunities and benefits, but it has also been responsible for changing the nature of live sports events forever.
